Write A Headline

Write A Headline Which Can Make Your Readers Curious.

There are hundreds of articles showing you the guide on how to write a headline which can convert. But there are few guides which can really make you understand the concept.

Many studies have shown that around 80% of the people decide with the heading whether they are going to read the article or not.

You can relate to your own. Do you read every article you see?

Well, the human mind is something which can only be intrigued if it gets the material to give a spark.

That’s what you need to learn. The heading of your article decides its further journey. It will travel to Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin or stay at your blog only.

Ways To Compose The Headlines Which Can Drive The Traffic To Your Blog.

Every blogger has a dream to get more and more people to his/her blog.

Many blogging strategies are influencing this factor. But the concept of the better headline always works at its best.

There are many things which can help you craft an attractive headline for your next blog post.

#1. Numbers Are Appealing.

It’s the most common phenomenon to get more leads.

Adding the number in the headlines can bring more exposure than you think. People like to read more options and numbers can be the solution.

Suppose, you’re reading about the WordPress security tips, would you prefer to read an article with 50 tips or nothing?

Well, you can deny once but your mind can’t control without being curious. You would check the article with 50 tips at least once.

#2. Questions Generate The Curiosity.

People are more curious to find the answers for every question they read.

It’s like an instinct which pushes you to find the solution. Suppose, you come across an article about the question about your blogging goals, what would you do?

Won’t you want to read what other people are dreaming about, what are their blogging goals?

Well, it’s human nature, everyone would want to read.

#3. Add At least One Powerful Word.

People want something sparking and to write a headline, it’s important to embed at least one word which can emphasize on the content.

Add the words like – proven, tested, mesmerizing, stupid etc.

You can find thousands of words. Choose your words carefully. Sometimes, it turns out to be the worst mistake. Be careful.

#4. “How To” Guides Always Work.

No one can forget about the “how to” guides.

People become curious to find out the show behind the curtains. Well, cook your cuisine and serve to your readers with the proper etiquettes.

Especially, when you’re writing something about any technical topic then don’t try to confuse your readers, put it straight and “how to” guide always the best choice.

#5. Add Some Surprise.

Everyone loves surprises.

You can write a headline by adding some twist. For example : “You could become a successful blogger but ……………”

It’s like a sudden change in the track of the train. Your readers should get a positive impact with that one last word.

Don’t you get surprised when someone tells the totally different story than you expect?

#6. Mention “YOU” More than “I”.

It’s always recommended to write for your readers and you’re here to solve their problems.

Talk to them, mention them. It should be like you’re talking to any person. Don’t just flaunt about yourself.

“I” isn’t the solution to every problem. The article should be all about their problems, their guide.

You may have read a few articles in which the blogger has mentioned himself/herself the most. There is only one type of article which has your own story.

When someone is talking about his/her own story then “I” is considered. I mean who can tell a story without mentioning himself/herself.

#7. Add Negative Words.

Everyone wants to read about something which shouldn’t be done or having a negative impact of something.

Whether you write a headline for a guide signifies the things which can be fatal or just the fully negative article.

The choice is yours.

Let me show you a few examples.

  • “Never underestimate the real power of blogging.”
  • “You can’t chase the growth of this blogosphere with your poor skills.”
  • “Don’t even try to dream about becoming a creative blogger without unique ideas.”

You may turn your article into a challenge or the guide which is about making your readers aware of something they shouldn’t do.

#8. Targeting Your Audience.

People like to be mentioned and it can be a plus point for you.

There are many articles which are related to your readers. For example : “The things people do but never tell about.”

It’s like you mention them in the direct or an indirect way. It’s up to you how you keep it up.

“There are many things which can drive you crazy”.

The main concept is to keep your audience engaged. Write a headline which can make your readers like reading.

#9. Promising Guides.

SEO is one of the hottest topics of all the time.

You can use the adjectives to add the value with the SEO guides. Put it together like you’re giving them what they always wanted.

Show your promising factor.

“The SEO guide which can drive the million dollar growth to your blog.”

It may be one of the headlines which can attract your readers. It shows your promise, your fidelity.

#10. Mix Numbers With Questions.

There are many other things which can bring a new idea for the best headline.

You can mix the numbers with questions. Maybe you can mix the numbers with your own stories. The combination can be anything.

You can tell about yourself. People love confessions, why don’t your try?

“21 confessions of a professional blogger.”

Can You Now Write A Headline Which Can Give Your More Output?

Every person is different and you can’t accept everyone to follow these things.

But still, you should have the basic ideas to craft a better headline. In the starting days, I was totally dependent on the “how to” guides.

You know that we all learn with the time.

What are you going to use? Are you up for the promises or the numbers? What about your own experience?

Personally, I like to try everything.

You just have to understand the need of the content. The most important thing is that never get off the track.

The heading should be related to the article.

  1. Hi Ravi,

You are right about all that you mentioned ?

Headlines are the ONLY thing that attracts readers to your blog post – especially the new ones or strangers, so they better be good ones! Of course, they must talk about your post and not mislead, which is another put-off as one goes through several blogs!

There are also many title or headline makers – apps and software, though not all of them work well, but they can help those who have a tough time deciding one for their post. I personally, like to try out a lot of variation and not just stick to a limited few – I think that adds spice for your audience also, isn’t it?

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead ?

It’s always been a debate about generating the headlines which can convert. I have read many blogs with thousands of articles but only a few of them have the potential to attract their readers.

I have never tried any tool but if’re saying, I would like to give a try. Maybe one of those can give some new ideas.

Thanks for putting your valuable thoughts.

  2. A headline is everything for a post. It is what attracts readers and raises their curiosity levels. Like a fashion blog can hide the advertisement for an e-commerce site like Myntra or Snapdeal.Using these tactics, a site can get more traffic and not seem needy at the same time. Thank you for such excellent tips and ideas.

  5. Hello, Ravi!

    Excellent one post, buddy!

    And you know what? ?

I had a full 30-minute session on writing the headline back in March 2016 in the WordPress meetup in Karachi, Pakistan….

And there I expressed the need, requirement and want to write the click-able and interest-stealer headline.

If you don’t have it, interest-stealer aspect, it won’t bring any good result from the readers regardless of how visualized, perfectly formatted, and enriched with awesome words you used to compile your content.

So, you perfectly nailed it! Covered the very important topic where most don’t put good effort.

The headline is the very first thing readers see.

If the headline is not good, you’ll observe less CTR.

After all, we are writing for the human being and not just for search engines. ?

So, thank you for coming up with this!
